Two peas in a pod.

This is Harvey's sister, Miss Ruby Jane.  They're like two peas in a pod!  I just had to share a photo of her:)

Stinky Cow Kitty

It is one of those things in life.  What do cats do outside all day in the winter to occupy themselves?  Harvey usually disappears in the Am, only to return in the afternoon or evening.  We have no idea where he goes, but the past two days, the stench has given him away!  Apparently Harvey is visiting a barn (perhaps the one across the road).  He returned home two days in a row now, reeking of cow.  Harvey normally sleeps next to Teresa, so yesterday he got his first bath.  Stinky cow is not an aroma that evokes peaceful slumber!

Kind of like Florida

The "Great Arctic Nor'easter Blizzard of the Middle of February 2014" came and went but we did not.  Due to last week's snow storm, we were unable to make our annual trip to Florida for warmth and sunshine.  What is the next best thing to Boca Raton?  The Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens of course!  Beautiful gardens, 80 degree temperature in the greenhouses, and thousands of butterflies made for a very nice day out.

Teresa made a friend.

The friendly birds were busy building nests.

Little Shop of Horrors

Even though it is cold and snowy outside, things are still growing at Silver Hill.  Eric's (via Teresa) Venus Fly Trap has been keeping the cluster flies under control in the house for a while now.  Somewhat amazingly, it is now starting to flower.  The first of many buds opened yesterday.  Plans are underway for an attempt at artificial pollination to see if our little carnivorous wonder can be cultivated.

BIG pigs!

The piggies are getting BIG.  How big you ask?  Over 210 pounds at their last "weigh in" which was over a week ago.  They should be a good 220 pounds now.  Their increase in size has resulted in Teresa's assessment that they would be rideable if you are into that sort of thing.  The girls are also much more visible from the road which has prompted passing motorists to stop at our house on two occasions to report that "our pigs had escaped."  Of course, they had not escaped and are still being contained quite well by a simple strand of electric fence.

In other news, Eric is now back at work after a nice week off.  There was an attempt on Mt. Washington last Thursday which ended on top of the Lion Head.  Though there was no summit, it was a beautiful day to be out in the woods.  Tonight, we attended our first ever town meeting to show our support for the Vermont 100.  The event is meeting some resistance from some local folks but Teresa spoke well in favor of it.

Typical Vermont

Snows 5 inches...off to work you go like it's a normal day!
Can't say I minded driving 15mph behind the snow plow most of my way to work either.

Decorating for baby

Winter turns out to be a great time for decorating and waiting.  The nursery is a very pale blue now, with owls adorning the walls.  My favorite is the little owl in our whimsical tree.

Today, Teresa began work on her "Owl Mobile."  Harvey sat on the felt squares as she worked, helping to keep them warm.  The outcome is a colorful collection of owls.  Eric is off to Home Depot tomorrow to buy the necessary pieces to give the owls flight, then all we need is the crib to hang it over.  Things are moving right along.

These are a few of our favorite things....

Cutest kids EVER!!!  What a fun visit we had with family last month.  Lots of giggles and smiles and it just melted our hearts.  Can't wait to add a little one of our own!
