We had an incredible time at Trevin Farms, watching the does birth kids, but as luck would have it....they were all BOYS!!!! Guess we'll be heading back next Saturday in hopes of some girls! Eric decided he needed more boys on the farm though and named one of the boys. Winslow was the first born kid of 2014 and will now be a resident at Silver Hill Farm. So much for getting a donkey!

A Typical Saturday Morning in Vermont
We were just hanging out in the kitchen making breakfast when the dogs started making a BIG ruckus. I looked out the window and it took a few second to register the large creature running across the lawn was not a horse, but rather, a moose!!! Yes, a MOOSE! She ran back to the barn, hopped over the chicken fencing and ran off into the woods. Just a typical Saturday morning in Vermont:)

Presenting the chicks....
....and the rooster!!!
Taking a hint from last years experience, any chick that looks different enough from all the others on day 1, allowing it to be named, is most definitely a rooster. I am therefore convinced the brown chick is a rooster, and have hence named him George.
Enjoy the video:)

They're here!!!
Today, the 6 new chicks arrived! Piper has been sitting on guard duty next to the tub, continually checking on the chicks every time they start to peep loudly. She sure does love her chickens. Photos coming soon!!!
P.S. Dinner tonight: roasted chicken

Harmony
With only one week left until the addition of 6 more baby chicks, I am feeling very optimistic that harmony will continue on the farm. Next Friday, 4 araucana and 2 cuckco maran chicks will join the masses. By this fall we should have beautiful blue, green, and dark chocolate colored eggs added into the mix. Our current hens have continued to lay 5-7 eggs daily throughout the winter. SUPER-STARS!!!
